Add a little Harmony to your life!

Harmony Equine Center ©2012 all rights reserved

That is add a little bit of the Harmony Equine Center to your life. The Harmony Equine Center is a division the Dumb Friends League animal shelter: http://www.ddfl.org/servces/harmony_equine_center This wonderful, new facility in Franktown, CO is having their grand opening Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 11am-3pm.

Visit the website to learn about the many horses who have suffered abuse and neglect in Colorado. This horse's name is Spirit. One of  up to 100 horses this facility can rehabilitate.

I'll admit, I'd always been a little scared of horses. They're such strong creatures-- a little intimidating to me. But, after having spent some time at the facility, I realized that they are such tender hearted beings. Some horses had never been handled by a person. Yet, the horses I saw still looked at me with those big, beautiful eyes which seemed to search for hope. I pet a couple of the horses' heads and watched them lean into my hand for more nuzzling. Unfortunately, not all the horses are this tame when they arrive at the Harmony Equine Center. Most need a lot of work both physically and behaviorally. Please consider supporting the center

Cyber Fyber Monday

Well, now I'm truly inspired. How cool is this video! (thank you Equadore 1's channel http://www.youtube.com/user/equadore1) Her skill and speed are amazing. I'm on my journey to learn about not using animal products in the yarns I produce. I won't say the start has been easy... but definitely worthwhile!

As a lifelong fiber enthusiast it is quite a challenge to make the choice to not use animal fibers in my spinning, knitting, crochet etc. etc. I'll always admire all textiles using different types of fiber, but I want to pursue learning about using plant base and synthetic fibers in my spinning and handcrafted projects. Share with me how you use plant based or synthetic yarns in your projects.
